“It’s like Rain on Your Wedding Day”

The dreaded R word…RAIN. Some people say it’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day. Alanis Morrissette even wrote a song about it! While rain is never anyone’s first choice for a wedding day forecast, if you have a great backup plan and a few tricks up your sleeve, the rain will be a passing blip on your perfect day!

Plan B

A wedding takes countless hours of planning, including prepping for those “what-if” scenarios. If you’re hosting an outdoor ceremony or reception, make a Plan B for inclement weather, and make it a plan that you can easily implement within a few days of your wedding date. A few tips:

-       Choose a venue with multiple ceremony options. The Pergola at the Venues is absolutely beautiful and an ideal outdoor ceremony location. Should the weather not cooperate, The Barn on property is the perfect backup plan. When you rent the Venues at Langtree, you have access to the entire property, so this backup plan is not only seamless, it won’t cost you extra and provides priceless peace-of-mind!

-       Tent it! If you have your heart set on being outdoors, a tent is a great solution. While a tent does come with additional cost, the Pergola space can be easily tented. The Venue’ staff can assist with tent company referrals and coordination.

 Umbrellas and More

-       If you’re planning for an outdoor wedding, be sure to stock up on some cute umbrellas. Clear umbrellas come in many sizes and are easily found online or at big box stores. They look great in photos, so great in fact, it may even make you happy that it rained on your wedding day!

-       Sometimes the rain comes in as a quick pop up storm, and you can still have your dream wedding outdoors as originally planned. To best prepare for this, purchase plastic drop cloths and extra towels to have on hand. If you’re anticipating a quick rain shower before a ceremony, cover the seats with the plastic drop cloths. Remove the plastic and wipe off any excess moisture from the chairs before guests sit down. This works like a charm!

Things happen – Be prepared

On a wedding day, anything can happen. Put together an emergency kit in case anything unexpected comes up. Here are some must-haves for your kit:

-       Safety pins and straight pins

-       Scissors, Tape, zip-ties and string or fishing line

-       First Aid Basics (Band Aids, pain reliever, eye drops, anti-nausea meds)

-       Makeup and Hair Refreshers (mascara, eyelash glue, bobby pins, Hairspray)

-       Fashion tape

-       Lint roller and static guard

-       Sewing kit

-       Mints

If you have your family, friends and brand new husband or wife by your side, and you’re extra prepared, a little rain won’t stop you from having your dream wedding day!
